On Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., VFW Post 1148 & Auxiliary will be honoring the 125th Anniversary and Day of Service for the VFW. This event will take place at VFW Post 1148, 719 S. Main St., Bowling Green.
The post has selected local organizations to support with the community service project:
- Brown Bag Food Pantry
- The Cocoon
- Snacks for After School Kids Program
- Buddy Poppy Cookie Drive for Veterans (Auxiliary)
This event is free and open to the public. The post is asking the public to collect donations for these projects and the VFW in turn will make sure they are delivered to the organizations. There will also be a free public luncheon served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Post officials said this event shows the VFW’s true mission – to aid the community, veterans and children.
