The Village Players Theatre will open its season with the musical comedy “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” running weekends Sept. 6 through Sept. 15 at The Village Players Theatre, 2740 Upton Ave., Toledo.

Show dates are: Friday, Sept 6 and Saturday Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.;.; Thursday, Sept. 12, Friday, Sept 13, and Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $25 and $20 with valid student ID.
Winner of the Tony and Drama Desk Award for Best Book, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” has charmed audiences across the county with its effortless wit and humor.
A fast-paced, wildly funny ride about six tweens (played by adults) spelling their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, while disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake.
Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.
