Volunteers needed for trail cleanup project in Mary Jane Thurston State Park in Grand Rapids

Mary Jane Thurston State Park

The Maumee Valley Heritage Corridor is teaming with the local chapter of the Buckeye Trail Association on a trail cleanup project at Mary Jane Thurston State Park. The cleanup will be on Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are invited to help with this project.

The park is located one mile west of Grand Rapids at 1466 Ohio 65. Check-in will be at the southeast corner of the marina parking lot, near the entrance to the Storybook Trail.  All participants will be required to sign a Department of Natural Resources volunteer form, and someone will be at the registration desk all morning to help with that.

No heavy lifting is required, as trash is mostly plastic debris, and garbage bags and grabbers (limited supply) will be provided. Volunteers should bring their own work gloves. It is recommended that you wear long sleeves and long pants and wear sturdy and waterproof shoes.

Whether you stay for 30 minutes or three hours, your participation will be welcomed.
