WGTE to host community screening of ‘Uncharitable: The Movie’

From WGTE PUBLIC MEDIA

WGTE Public Media, RISE Northwest Ohio, and Toledo Free Press have partnered to present the local community with a free screening of “Uncharitable: The Movie.” This screening will occur on Friday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m., at WGTE Studios, 1270 South Detroit Avenue, Toledo

This event is free and open to the public. The film may particularly resonate with philanthropists, board members, social enterprise leaders, corporate community impact leaders, grantors, nonprofit employees, government leaders, and anyone interested in making the community a better place to live.

“RISE Northwest Ohio believes rural social-serving enterprises are doing some of the most important work in Ohio but are being held back by outdated expectations around overhead, growth, and ‘scarcity mindset.’ Inspired by the film ‘Uncharitable,’ we’re building a collaborative movement to change that,” said Aileen Meyer, CEO for the Community Impact.

Based on the book, “Uncharitable,” by Dan Pallotta, the film follows the stories of four American charitable efforts that were crippled or destroyed by old ideas. With features from actors like Edward Norton, critics are raving about this documentary. This film is directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal, father of actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

Seating for this screening will be limited. People can register for the screening here: Uncharitable Screening Event Registration.
