Wilbur Frank Miller

Wilbur “Wib” Frank Miller, 93, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024. He was born on July 10, 1930, in Malinta Ohio to the late Frank and Martha (nee Badenhop) Miller. He married Lola (nee Schwiebert) Miller on December 22, 1950, and she survives in Bowling Green. They recently celebrated 73 years of marriage.

Wib graduated from Malinta -Gretlon High School in 1948 where he enjoyed playing on the basketball team. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1951-1954 and was stationed in Colorado, Idaho, and Montana. Wib was an extremely hard worker and completed a 30-year career in the US Postal Service. In addition, he worked for the Sentinel Tribune, Klotz Flowers, in carpentry and other part-time jobs.

Wib’s Christian faith was always of utmost importance to him and his family. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, and most recently a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bowling Green. Giving to and helping others were top priorities to Wib as evidenced by his strong commitment to ELCA World Hunger, the BG Food Pantry, Thrivent Action Grants, and Habitat for Humanity. He was a founding member of the Habitat for Humanity of Wood County and served in many capacities including helping to build over 30 homes in Wood County. He and his wife traveled to many US states to help with Habitat for Humanity and other disaster recovery sites. Wib was awarded the Golden Hammer Award by the Habitat for Humanity of Wood County in 2023. He was deeply motivated to help others realize the dream of home ownership. Wib was also a member of the American Legion Post 45 in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Wib and his wife Lola enjoyed traveling throughout the country in their travel trailer. Camping in many national parks was the highlight of their travels.

Wib was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather; and always enjoyed getting acquainted and visiting with people from all walks of life. Along with his wife of 73 years, Lola, Wib is survived by his children Jeff Miller (Connie Carrino) of Edina Minnesota, Barb Colon of Benton, Kentucky, and Joan Tussing (Doug) of Norwalk Ohio. He is also survived by his grandchildren Andrew, Anne, Amy Jo and Amanda; and great grandchildren Lydia, Leah, Anthony, Michael, Easton, and Josephine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Fran Sonnenberg and son in law, Jamie Colon.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 315 S. College Dr. Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Pastor Robin Small will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery where Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those unable to attend can watch the funeral service live by going to www.stmarksbg.org and click “Watch Live” Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
