Wind bursts take down tree limbs and power lines in Bowling Green

Storm damage at Parker and Vine streets

High winds and heavy rains swept through Bowling Green Wednesday evening. In the aftermath, Bowling Green Police Division received 29 reports of tree limbs and wires being downed by the storm.

Bowling Green Utilities Director Brian O’Connell said his office responded to 45 power outage calls, and city crews worked through the night to restore electricity to homes.

The outages were scattered, but primarily on the west side of the city. The greatest damage to trees and wires appeared to be in the area of Martindale, Charles and Lyn streets, he said.

Because many of the outages were to individual homes, it took crews longer to get everyone back on line.

“Six guys worked all night,” O’Connell said.

Public works crews were also out clearing downed trees from roadways.
