A woman was arrested Thursday morning for felonious assault of two health care workers at Wood County Hospital.
Makaila Danielle Korakas, 37, of St. Paul, Minnesota, was taken to Wood County Jail after spitting on personnel from the emergency room.
Bowling Green Police responded shortly after midnight this morning to Wood County Hospital, 950 W. Wooster St., to assist Rossford Police Department. Rossford police advised they had a very combative female in custody who had to be medically cleared at the hospital before being transported to Wood County Jail.
Upon Rossford police arrival at the hospital, the officer advised Korakas was extremely aggressive, aggravated and combative. The officer advised the woman had already assaulted officers in Rossford by striking them and spitting on them. The officer advised she made numerous threats on the way to the hospital.
It was determined that rather than trying to get Korakas into the hospital, a nurse would be coming out to the ambulance bay to speak with her while she was still in the back of the patrol car. The window of the car was rolled down and the nurse tried to speak with Korakas. She was lying down across the seat and reportedly would not speak. The car door was then opened and the nurse continued to attempt to speak with Korakas.
When Korakas would not respond, the nurse gave her a sternum rub. Korakas then kicked her legs toward the nurse and yelled at her. Korakas then fell out of the vehicle and officers grabbed her arms as she stood up. The nurse then tried to ask the woman questions again, when Korakas reportedly spit on the nurse’s face and arm.
Korakas continued to refuse treatment from the hospital staff. An emergency room physician then walked out to speak with the Korakas. She reportedly spit on his face and hand.
The physician medically cleared the woman, who was then transported to Wood County Jail.
