From WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) invites the community to its 6th Annual Community Festival on Friday, June 6, from 5-8 p.m. on the WCBDD campus at 1921 E. Gypsy Lane Road.

This free, family-friendly event is open to all and offers an evening of fun, connection, and celebration. It’s a perfect chance for families and individuals of all abilities to come together and enjoy an inclusive community event.

This year’s festival features:

  • Inclusive outdoor games and activities for all ages
  • Face painting and temporary tattoos
  • Live music by local favorite Mark Poesler
  • Local artisan and resource vendors

There will be a selection of food trucks, including Hot Dawg Hut, Kona Ice, Nene’s Sweets, OTR Smokehouse, The Tamale Guy, and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck.

New this year is the Wellness Zone, dedicated to supporting the health and safety of the community. The Wellness Zone will feature the Wood County Health Department Mobile Unit, car seat safety checks and the WCBDD Universal Changing Unit that promotes accessibility and dignity for all attendees.

“The Community Festival is all about bringing people together in a spirit of fun, inclusion, and community education,” said Charese Botjer, communications and community engagement specialist. “We’re proud to continue growing this event and offering new and current resources that benefit everyone.”
