After being closed since late December because of weather related damage, the Wood County Museum will once again welcome visitors.
The museum will re-open on Oct. 16 for tours with normal business hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
On Oct. 19 at 3:30 p.m. a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the grand re-opening will be held. Following the ribbon cutting, there will be an open house reception until 6 p.m. with cake and light refreshments.
The museum has been closed since staff returned on Dec. 27 to find water ponding on some floors, leaking down through some ceilings, and running down some walls.
The damage that spread to three floors was caused by frozen radiators.
The damage spread throughout the 30,000 square foot, 150-year-old facility.
The museum continued to hold events on its grounds during the time the building was closed.
This will be a free event open to the public, in partnership with the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Perrysburg Chamber of Commerce, and North Baltimore Chamber of Commerce.
Also, at the ribbon cutting on Oct. 19, Holly A. Kirkendall, museum curator and author of the “Ohio Infirmary Buildings” book, will offer an author “meet and greet” and book signings.
All events and education programs detailed at woodcountyhistory.org or by following the Wood County Museum on social media.
The museum is located at 13660 County Home Road, Bowling Green.
