Open Archery

Arrive anytime between 4:30 and 7:00 pm to give archery a shot! All archery equipment provided along with brief beginner-friendly instruction from our certified instructors. Children must be at least 7 years of age to use our equipment. No registration required.
Scrapbooking Retreat
Saturday, May 6; 9:00 am – noon or 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Beaver Creek Preserve

Slow down and engage in a favorite hobby! Led by Friends’ of the Parks members Jill Konst and Ranaye McLaughlin, participants will make a card and create a page to add to a scrapbook. Supplies and light refreshments are included. Please register for one session, both programs will cover the same material.
Intro to Rope Rappelling

It’s a day of rope rappelling fun! A brief orientation covers gear and safety procedures, then it’s off to the 25-35 foot cliffs. Safety equipment, instruction/guidance, and water are provided. Bring a water bottle and sack lunch. Participants must be 12 years of age or older. Closed-toe footwear only; access to cliff tops requires short hikes on slightly uneven terrain.

Farm Play: Go Fly a Kite!

Kites have been around for millennia, so they were as popular in the past as they are today. Discover kite history, especially during the 1930s, learn about different kites, then make a kite to take home. If the weather cooperates, we’ll give flying a try.
Food Preservation Series: Canned Cattails

Cattails were a foraging staple in northwest Ohio from American Indians to Black Swamp pioneers to 1930s farmers. Learn cattail natural history, how to harvest cattails, and a basic cattail-shoot recipe. (If a late winter prevents an early harvest, we’ll make a recipe substitution but still learn about the cattails.) No experience necessary. Cost: $10/ $5 FWCP.
Bradner Interpretive Center Grand Opening

Wear It! Paddle the Pond

Canoe Safety & Rescue

Join American Canoeing Association instructors to build your canoe safety and rescue skills. In the classroom and on the water, this course helps you keep all boats afloat and prepares you for when they don’t. Canoeing gear provided; personal life-jackets welcome. Dress for the weather and for frequent swimming. All participants must have previous canoeing experience and meet Essential Eligibility Criteria (available online at www.wcparks.org ).
