Wood County Special Olympics to host 2nd Annual Youth Field Day

From WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

Wood County Special Olympics announces the 2nd Annual Wood County Special Olympics Youth Field Day on Saturday, May 17, from noon to 2 p.m. The field day will take place on Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities Campus, located at 1921 E. Gypsy Lane Road in Bowling Green.

This inclusive and fun-filled event is designed specifically for children between the ages of 8 and 13 with a diagnosed intellectual and/or developmental disability.

This unique opportunity allows up to 50 participants to experience various Special Olympics sports in a supportive and encouraging environment. The event is completely FREE for all participants and serves as a great way for children to explore different sports before fully committing to Special Olympics programs.

Event Highlights:

  • A variety of engaging sports stations led by experienced Wood County Special Olympics coaches
  • Opportunities to try out popular Special Olympics sports, including: basketball, bocce, flag football and track & field
  • A chance to build confidence, enhance physical fitness, and make new friends.

Participating in the Special Olympics goes beyond training and competition. It’s about discovering new strengths, developing important life skills, and fostering friendships that last a lifetime.

“We are excited to welcome young athletes to our 2nd Annual Youth Field Day. This event is all about giving children the opportunity to try new sports, build confidence, and experience the joy of Special Olympics in a supportive and inclusive setting,” said Jennifer Krouse, Wood County Special Olympics local coordinator. “It’s more than just a day of activities—it’s a chance to make new friends, have fun, and discover a love for sports that can last a lifetime. We can’t wait to see everyone there!”

Spaces are limited to the first 50 participants. To register your child or to learn more about the event, please contact Krouse at 419-419-7907 or email specialolympics@woodcountydd.org.
