Wood County saw 12 more COVID cases and two more deaths from the virus in the past day.
The county is up to 1,567 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 since March, according to the Tuesday, Sept. 15, update from the Wood County Health Department. That is 12 more cases since Monday.
The total COVID deaths in the county since March is now 74.
As of today there are 79 active cases in the county, which is five fewer than on Monday. Active cases are Wood County residents who are being monitored by the health department according to state and federal isolation criteria.
Of the total 1,567 cases in the county as of today, those with the virus ranged in age from 1 to 102, with the median age of 39. Of those testing positive, 847 were female, and 720 were male.
A total of 144 Wood County residents have been hospitalized for the virus since March.
Of the 74 who have died, two were in their 50s, eight were in their 60s, 19 in their 70s, 31 in their 80s, and 14 in their 90s. Of the deaths, 40 have been females, and 34 have been males.
Every Wednesday, the Wood County Health Department lists “active cases” by Zip Code. As of Sept. 9, there were 13 areas in the county with active cases.
The Bowling Green area had the most – with between 51-55 active cases. That compares to between 36 and 40 cases one week ago in the Bowling Green area.
The Perrysburg area had between 16 and 20 cases. Areas with 1 to 5 cases each included Deshler, Haskins, Luckey, Millbury, Milton Center, North Baltimore, Northwood, Portage, Rossford, Walbridge, and Weston.
Of the total 1,510 cases in Wood County, at least 321 have been in long-term care facilities – 192 were residents and 129 were staff. Those numbers from long-term care facilities are updated every Wednesday.

- Kingston Residence of Perrysburg: 44 residents, 19 staff.
- Kingston Rehabilitation of Perrysburg: 11 residents, 31 staff.
- The Manor at Perrysburg: 18 residents, 7 staff.
- Heartland of Perrysburg: 28 residents, 15 staff.
- Otterbein Perrysburg: 6 residents, 18 staff.
- Otterbein Pemberville: 3 residents, 6 staff.
- Heritage Corner Health Care, Bowling Green: 1 resident, 3 staff.
- St. Clare Commons, Perrysburg: 1 resident, 5 staff.
- Grand Rapids Care Center: 1 resident, 0 staff.
- Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore: 29 residents, 14 staff.
- Brookdale, Bowling Green: 0 residents, 1 staff.
- Wood Lane Residential Werner House: 1 resident, 1 staff.
According to the Ohio Department of Health, at least 48 of Wood County’s 74 deaths from COVID-19 have occurred in long-term care facilities.
