The planned Wooster Street pavement rehabilitation work started this past Monday. The contractor has milled off both lanes of traffic so that the underground utilities can be marked by OUPS.
The contractor plans to begin the process of repairing the concrete road base on Thursday. This will begin by removing the damaged sections of concrete followed by pouring a new base in those affected areas.
As released previously, due to the relative narrow width of Wooster Street, it is necessary for the safety of the traveling public as well as the contractor to close Wooster from Church to Main and Main to Prospect – the intersection of Main and Wooster will remain open during this initial phase.
Once the entire road base has been repaired within the area bounded by Prospect and Church Street, an intermediate course of asphalt will be placed and temporary striping will occur.
It is anticipated that the road base repairs and intermediate paving will take approximately two weeks.
It is anticipated that the contractor will continue the concrete repairs along the sidewalks and ADA ramps throughout the project area around Sept. 23.
Once complete, the final surface course of asphalt will be applied. Weather dependent and progress of work, paving is anticipated to last through October.
The East Court Street water line project between Main and Prospect is nearly complete. Crews have made the necessary sidewalk and curb repairs and have started the paving of Court Street from Main to Prospect. It is anticipated that this final phase of that project will be complete by Friday.
