Three Bowling Green residents reported an unknown person attempted to get in their vehicles on Saturday (April 1) morning. In two cases, the attempts to get in the locked cars were videotaped.
In one instance, the car was unlocked and items were reportedly stolen. The owner initially thought the missing items might be the result of an April Fools’ prank.
The first report came from a resident in the 800 block of Second Street, who reportedly captured video of a male trying to open the door on her car. The man was unable to make entry, so he walked away.
Extra police patrols were made in the area.
Later, a resident of the 800 block of Third Street reported she had video of a man attempting to open her car door. He walked away when he wasn’t able to get inside.
But in the 200 block of Troup Avenue, a resident reported items were taken overnight from his unlocked vehicle parked behind his residence. When he went to his vehicle in the morning, he reported his laptop and a fish finder had been taken from his vehicle. The fish finder is valued at $2,700 and the laptop at $1,000.
The resident told police he called people he thought might be pulling an April Fools’ joke on him – but no one admitted to a prank.
