The new year has been busy for the Bowling Green FFA Chapter.
In January, members were working to complete award and degree applications for FFA. Members worked hard on their State and American Degree applications, proficiency award applications and officer books.
After three rounds of evaluations, results are in and the member’s hard work has paid off. Natalee Harris and Addie Naus earned their State FFA Degree which will be awarded to them at the State FFA Convention in May. Casey Naus, Clare Tussing, and Annie Urban will be recognized as Gold Medal Officers as well.

Aidan Thomas and Emma Nester participated in the Public Speaking CDE. Aidan wrote and presented a 5-7 minute speech. Aidan placed second at the sub-district, first in the district and participated in the state competition on March 1 where he placed in the top 12 in the state. Emma picked a topic at the contest, had 30 minutes to write a 4-6 minute speech and then presented the speech to the judges. She placed second in the sub-district, third in the district and placed in the top 10 in the state.
The chapter also held their January monthly meeting. This meeting consisted of playing Guess that Tune, a business meeting, a nacho bar, and other fun games like spike ball and corn hole for recreation.
The fruit sale incentive lunch was held at Beckett’s for those members who sold $800 plus during the annual fundraiser. Members enjoyed food and fellowship while celebrating a successful fundraiser and their hard work.
Bowling Green FFA kicked off 2024 with planning and fundraising for the chapter’s philanthropic event Bobcat-A-Thon. Thanks to support from the BG athletic department and athletic boosters, the chapter worked the concession stand, had a 50/50 raffle, a 3-point shootout, and held a bake sale during all the boys basketball games on January 31. The chapter raised $550 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital-Toledo through this event.
The Bowling Green Agricultural Education Department is a satellite program of Penta Career Center.
