Women’s Club garden group plants flowers at BG welcome sign on North Main Street

GFWC Women’s Club of Bowling Green plant flowers at city welcome sign on North Main Street.

Members of the garden group of GFWC Women’s Club of Bowling Green gathered last month at the city’s north end welcome sign to plant flowers. Marigolds, petunias and mums were used this year in the growing spaces to enhance the previously planted hostas and sedums.

The garden group maintains this planting throughout the summer, providing a colorful welcome to the city for visitors from the north.

Members then met at Summerfield Community Building for the regular meeting. Co-president Susan Enright reported that at the OAGC Region 1 spring meeting, the club was presented with a superior rating award certificate for the 2023-2024 Program Booklet, which was prepared by Linda Kuhn and Lynette Rosebrook.

Discussion was held about the garden group Holiday Art & Craft Show Raffle Basket – “Art in the Garden.” A glass piece created and donated by Pam Vollmar was shown.

Next month’s meeting will be a garden tour.
