Robert W Deuel Jr

Robert Wayne “Bob” Deuel, Jr., 69, of Custar, Ohio passed away on Friday night, October 3, 2025 at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, Ohio.

He was born on February 23, 1956 in Bowling Green, Ohio, the only child of Robert and Mary (Rife) Deuel. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Milton Center, Ohio.

As a young man Bob was a passionate baseball player. Known for his skilled pitching, he played semi-pro baseball at the age of 16. He would later garner interest from the major leagues, only to have injuries prevent his advancement. On November 22, 1975 he married Teressea (Trumbull) Deuel in Rudolph, Ohio.

He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1974 and then returned to the school district to work as a custodian. He worked for 40 years as the head custodian at the former Milton Center School as well as the Central Administration Building and Bus Garage. He retired in 2013.

Bob’s faith in Christ was strong and he was a faithful member of The Way Community Church, Deshler where he served as an elder and strong supporter to the church. Through all walks of life, he will be remembered for his love of flannel shirts and his everlasting sense of humor with bad dad jokes. Whether it was kids at school calling him “Mr. Smiley” or members of his church’s congregation waiting for a Sunday morning joke, Bob did it with his trademark smile.

He is survived by his wife, Teressea; his mother, Mary; two sons, Ryan (Peggy) Deuel; Justin (Jenny) Deuel and four grandchildren, Nolan; Abigail; Alaina and Ella.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at the Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with his son, Pastor Justin Deuel officiating. Burial will follow at Milton Township Cemetery, Custar. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday and 9-11 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
