Northwestern Water & Sewer District raises 2-million-gallon tank for water tower by Meta data center

From THE NORTHWESTERN WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT

The Northwestern Water and Sewer District has announced a construction milestone on the new elevated water tank on Ohio 582 in Middleton Township. On Sunday, Dec. 7, crews raised the 2-million-gallon tank to the top of the concrete pedestal. Crews used a hydraulic pulley system to lift the steel tank. The work took place over a five-hour period. Remaining work includes placing the roof panels, electrical and internal piping, and structure work.

The tank will be part of the District water system that serves water from the Bowling Green water treatment plant to Dunbridge and the Interstate 75 – Route 582 interchange in Middleton Township, including the Meta Data Center facility.

Construction began in January 2025 and included building the 2-million-gallon elevated storage tank and a 16-inch diameter water main. The additional water storage improves resiliency of the overall water system, particularly during periods of peak usage. The tank also helps to support more stable water pressures, as well as redundant capacity during a water emergency.
