Thefts of packages delivered to homes or businesses often go unsolved. But in Bowling Green early today (June 10), the alleged thief was cited after she stole a case of energy drinks not yet released to the public.
Bowling Green Police responded to an apartment in the 300 block of East Napoleon Road, around 12:15 a.m., after a resident reported that a package left by UPS near the apartment complex mailboxes had been stolen.
The package contained a case of an unreleased Bubblicious original Ghost energy drink that had been sent to the BG man by the company to review the drink. The man notified police that while walking in the complex, he saw the energy drink cans inside the window of another apartment. He said the drinks had to be his, since the flavor had not been released to the public yet.
Police saw the cans on the window sill and knocked on the door. When the woman answered the door, the cans had been removed from the window, according to the police report.
The woman reportedly told police that she had not taken the package, but had purchased the drinks from a gas station on South Main Street. The officer told the woman he would be going to the gas station to confirm that she had purchased the drinks. At that point, the woman reportedly acknowledged that she had stolen the case of drinks. She took the remaining 10 cans out of her refrigerator.
The woman was cited for theft, and the remaining cans were taken to the man intended to review the product.
