Full closure of Interstate 475 southbound and ramps occurs this weekend

Complete closure of southbound I-475 south of U.S. 24 starts Friday evening, June 26.

From OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

Interstate 475 southbound between U.S. 24 and Ohio 25 will be fully closed again beginning Friday night, June 26, and through the weekend to continue resurfacing and pavement work.

Southbound I-475 will close south of Route 24 on Friday, June 26, beginning after 8 p.m., and remain closed until Monday morning, June 29, at 6 a.m. Traffic will be detoured using I-475 northbound to Interstate 75.

This is the fourth and final in a series of full closures of southbound I-475 for pavement joint repair and paving that have occurred over multiple weekends which began in May.

The southbound/eastbound on-ramp from Route 25/Dixie Highway to I-75 north and south will be open this weekend. The following ramps will close Friday evening and reopen Monday morning:

  • Southbound I-475 on-ramp from Dussel Drive/Salisbury Road
  • Southbound I-475 on-ramp from U.S. 20A
  • Southbound I-475 on-ramp from Route 24

Message boards are posted south of each interchange throughout the I-475/U.S. 23 corridor informing motorists of this event.

A full weekend closure for bridge repairs on Salisbury Road/Dussel Drive over I-475 will be scheduled as part of this project contract; dates are to be determined and will not overlap interstate closures.

Full closures of I-475 northbound will occur once a bridge on Ohio 795 over I-75 – currently closed for a deck replacement – reopens in July (date to be determined).

The repairs are part of a project that is resurfacing I-75 and I-475 near the Perrysburg interchange in Wood County, and I-475 from I-75 to the Maumee River.

The repairs are necessary maintenance until a proposed project on I-475 though Perrysburg takes place. The project would widen I-475 and I-75 in Wood County to Route 24 in Lucas County to three lanes; widen and reconstruct the I-475 bridges over the CSX Railroad, Fort Meigs Road, and Maumee River; reconstruct the I-75/I-475 and I-475/Route 24 interchanges; and realign the I-475/Route 25 interchange.

The project is not yet funded. The earliest the project could occur is 2032.
