George J. Evans, age 90, of Wayne, OH, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Bridge Hospice, Bowling Green, OH. He was born on June 18, 1925 in Risingsun, OH to Ray and Hazel (Schreiber) Evans. On July 20, 1963 he married Phyllis Herschelroth in PA and she preceded him in death on April 16, 1996. George worked at Rudolph Libbey as an iron worker. His memberships included: life member of Albert Bowe American Legion Post # 338, Bradner; VFW #421, Fostoria; Toussaint Association and was a Montgomery Twp. Trustee. In his spare time he enjoyed tractors and fishing.
George is survived by his children: Kimberly (Ken) Garner of Wayne, Susan (Larry) Beckford of Fostoria, Carole (Randy) Rives of Weston, Gary (Jo Ann) Evans of Jackson, MI, Deb Edwards of Bradner and JoAnn Bishop of FL, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, brothers: Gale Evans of Fostoria, Dale (Marlene) Evans of Wayne, sisters: Waunetta Wiechman of Findlay, Imogene Evans of Fostoria and Sandra Ferrell of Frenchburg, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Phyllis, son: Bill Wise and brothers: Don, Jim and Martin Evans.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 2- 7 PM at the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH where funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 1:00 Burial will be in Graham Cemetery, Wayne, OH with military honors performed by the Albert Bowe American Legion Post # 338.
