At approximately 11:29 a.m. today, Ohio Highway Patrol troopers attempted to stop a Ford F-150 on Interstate 75 in Wood County for driving slowly in the left lane and impeding the flow of traffic.
Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the suspect refused to stop and fled, according to Lt. Angel Burgos, Bowling Green post commander. The pursuit went northbound on I-75 and exited on U.S. 20 and re-entered I-75. The suspect continued southbound onto Interstate 475 and exited onto Ohio 25 and re-entered I-475.
Troopers were able to stop the vehicle near mile post 3. The suspects were taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle revealed firearms, crystal methamphetamines, and marijuana. The incident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
The driver Hakeem Abdullah, age 31 of Detroit, Michigan, is being charged with three counts of improper handling of a firearm, failure to comply, money laundering, and drug paraphernalia. The passenger, Tony Wear, age 39 of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is being charged with three counts of improper handling of a firearm, tampering with evidence, possession of methamphetamine, two counts of receiving stolen property, and drug abuse instruments. Both suspects were incarcerated at the Wood County Justice Center.
