The Wood County Humane Society is gearing up to host the fourth of five concerts of a series. The Mewvement & Subwoofers: WCHS Concert Series is a new fundraiser that started in 2019 and has held a concert every other month since the first one in March.
Fundraising Co-Chair Andrea Szymkowiak explains, “The WCHS concert series has been a really great new fundraiser for us this year. It is allowing us to collaborate with local businesses like Howard’s Club H and work with some of our very talented local musicians. All in all, a win for everyone.”
The first three shows of the concert series have entertained around 250 people. The fourth show of the concert series offers live entertainment from some of the best local bands including concussive rock from Highbinder, cover tunes from Hollywood Casino’s second place Battle of the Bands winner Red-eye To Vegas, the make-you-pay-attention Progressive music of Monstrosadus, long standing Metalcore group The Black Order, and unique Blues Metal of Mujaw Creek.
Along with a great music line-up the event will also have drink specials, raffles, and a showcase of the Wood County Humane Society’s current adoptable animals.
This foot-stomping, make you move to the groove fundraiser is scheduled for Sept. 21 at Howard’s Club H, 210 N. Main St., Bowling Green. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the bands will start at 8 p.m. Cover is $5 at the door the night of the show.
The WCHS, located in Bowling Green, Ohio, is a private, non-profit, managed admission shelter providing care for homeless and abused pets and investigating cruelty complaints in Wood County. The organization receives no funding from national humane organizations, instead relying on earned revenue and the generosity of individual donors and businesses to fund our programs such as Safe Haven and food assistance programs, spay/neuter transport, and educational presentations.
The WCHS provides care for over a thousand animals each year—from dogs and cats, to horses, goats, and pocket pets.
