“Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at that moment someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” There are others eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes!”
Boncille “Vicki” M. Hackathorn, 90, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Sunday October 13, 2019. Our beloved “Steel Magnolia” passed on to the Lord peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She joined in heaven her husband William Hackathorn, son Larry Hackathorn and daughter Christine Dibling for a joyous reunion.
Vicki loved the Lord, family, friends and being an educator. She taught K-3 at Elmwood Schools and also taught Sunday school classes. She enjoyed volunteering at the Wood County Jail teaching GED classes and women’s ministry. She attended Dayspring Church, Village View of Christ Church and Word of Truth Church in Bowling Green. Vicki enjoyed painting and writing at the Wood County Senior Center.
She loved the beach, Lake Erie and Panama City. We surely hope there is a lifetime supply of sweet tea, fried chicken, fish, hushpuppies, grits, eggs, biscuits and extra crispy bacon in heaven!
Our beloved Vicki will be missed by her son-in-law John (Cheryl Doyle) Dibling and daughters Melinda (Dennis Platte) Dunlap and Loretta Hackathorn. She is also survived by her grandchildren Bruce, Bryan, Shayna, Kevin, Bethany, Rebecca, Dean, Amanda, Jessica, Robert, Kathryn, Christina, Jordan, James and Darien, great-grandchildren Katie, Preston, Julia, Natalee, Elliot, Tessa, Zachary, Nicholas, Victoria, Nathan, Katie, Wayne, Ryan, Michael, Alan and Collin and great-great-grandson Henry.
Vicki’s wishes were to have a private family ceremony. Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green is handling arrangements.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Dana Cancer Center at UTMC, Wood Haven Health Care in Bowling Green, Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green and Pastor David Boswell of Village View Church of Christ in Bowling Green.
