American Legion Bowling Green Post 45 was initially formed in 1919 as the Wood County American Legion Post 45 and chartered on Aug. 10, 1920.  The post number indicates that it was the 45th post formed in Ohio.

In 1953, it re-chartered as the Bowling Green American Legion Post 45.  The post located at the Bowling Green City Park (after purchase of park from Wood County) in 1929 and had a 50-year lease for $1 per year.  This expired in 1979 and the post has been located at different locations over the ensuing years.

We had our Annual Post Dinner in conjunction with our American Legion Auxiliary Bowling Green Unit 45 on Oct. 24 at the Deck-Hanneman Banquet Hall.

We had our Buckeye Boys and Girls State delegates speak of their experiences. We had hoped to honor four members for over 50 years of continuous membership:  Thomas Decker, 52 years, Donald Titus, 61 years, Herbert Kratzer, 63 years, and William Kaetzel, 62 years.  However, due to advanced age, they were unable to attend.
