Bowling Green Care Center is closing in Bowling Green early in 2021.
Plans are reportedly for the facility at 850 W. Poe Road to consolidate with Bowling Green Manor, located at 1021 W. Poe Road. The two facilities have the same parent company – HCF Management Inc.
A press release issued by the firm, states the following:
“HCF Management Inc., the parent company of Bowling Green Care Center and Bowling Green Manor, has made the very difficult decision to consolidate both Skilled Nursing Facilities into one facility. It is our intention to close Bowling Green Care Center sometime early in the year 2021.
The firm declined to say how many residents live at BG Care Center, and how many people are employed there.
Earlier today Jeff Miller, business development coordinator for Bowling Green Manor and Bowling Green Care Center, said the firm announced the closing now to give people time to consider options.
“That’s why we did it so far in advance,” Miller said.
A meeting was held earlier this month to announce the plans to residents and employees. Families of residents were reportedly told the company by law has to give them 90 days notice before a closure. According to one family member, the firm said BG Manor will be adding on seven rooms, and will take a few of the 44 residents at BG Care Center.
The preliminary plan is to move as many residents and employees as possible to Bowling Green Manor, which has renovations planned.
Bowling Green Care Center has a pool, rehabilitation department, memory support and pulmonary program.
The statement released by the company also said:
“We would like to thank the Bowling Green community for giving us the opportunity and privilege of taking care of their loved ones at Bowling Green Care Center. Quality of life and quality of care have been, and continue to be the cornerstones of Bowling Green Care Center and Bowling Green Manor. We are proud to provide the individualized care area residents and loved ones need and deserve, and we appreciate the trust the community has placed in us.
“There are many details that we will continue to work on as the date draws near. We plan to provide regular updates and work with all residents, families, and staff as we transition towards this change.
“Again, we appreciate the trust the Bowling Green area residents have placed in us to care for their needs and their loved ones care needs.”
