State patrol investigating injury crash in southern Wood County

Troopers from the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on westbound Cygnet Road at Henry-Wood Road, in Wood County.

On Sunday, at approximately 11:50 p.m., a pick-up truck operated by Jamie Rader, 32, of Deshler, was driving westbound on Cygnet Road. According to the patrol, Rader was approaching an offset intersection when he failed to stop at the posted stop sign and drove off the west side of Henry -Wood Road and struck the ditch.

Rader suffered life threatening injuries and was transported by air ambulance to Mercy-St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo. He was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash. Airbags deployed and the vehicle sustained heavy front end damage. Alcohol impairment is believed to be a factor and the crash remains under investigation at this time.

“This is an example of a preventable crash,” said Lt. Angel R. Burgos, commander of the Bowling Green Post. “Another reminder to always wear your seatbelt and to never drive impaired.”

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Deshler Fire & EMS, Henry County South Joint Ambulance District, Mercy Health Life Fight, and Ed’s 24 Hour Service.

The patrol reminds the public to dial #677 to report impaired drivers.
