Bowling Green Police cited a woman Sunday after it was discovered that the expiration sticker on her car had been stolen from another vehicle.
An officer was on patrol at 3:30 p.m., when he checked the registration of red Hyundai on East Napoleon Road. A LEADS (Law Enforcement Automated Data System) check showed the registration to have expired last September, but the plate had a May 2022 expiration sticker on it.
The officer stopped the driver, Meshay Washington, 21, of Bowling Green, and found that she was under multiple suspensions and failure to reinstate.
A LEADS check showed the May 2022 expiration sticker belonged to a resident of Sixth Street. Another officer went to that residence, and found a man who said the sticker had recently been stolen off of his car.
Washington told police she did not know who stole the sticker or how it got on her car. She was cited for expired registration, driving under suspension, failure to reinstate, and receiving stolen property.
