The Bowling Green Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday evening to begin the termination process for high school Spanish teacher Dallas Black, who has taught in the district for 18 years.
Black held a continuing contract with the district, but allegations concerning his conduct have come to the attention of the board, according to a board resolution. The Ohio Revised Code allows the suspension and termination of teaching contracts for “good and just cause.”
The resolution for Black’s termination stated the board believes the teacher’s conduct constitutes grounds for termination, and the character of the charges against him warrants his suspension pending action to terminate.
Black has been given the opportunity to appear at pre-disciplinary hearings before Superintendent Francis Scruci for the purpose of refuting the charges, telling his side of the story, and to show cause why his teaching contract should not be suspended pending termination.
The resolution also supports the suspension without pay pending termination.
The resolution lists 24 charges against Black – all since May 12, 2021. They included charges about him leaving school at the end of first period on multiple days without approval.
Several charges were lodged about him sending emails that violate board policy, and sending emails including the names of students with their personal educational information. Black is also charged with sending emails with disparaging comments about administrators, engaging in acts of insubordination, and engaging in conduct unbecoming to the teaching profession.
