New COVID-19 cases continue to decline at Bowling Green State University.
This week’s COVID-19 dashboard reports 16 new cases – 10 confirmed and six suspected. Of those case 15 are students, and one confirmed case is a faculty member. (Suspected cases are those reported by individuals using home test kits.)
That’s down from 21 cases last week.
Since the start of the fall semester, the university has reported 505 cases – 478 students, 12 faculty, and 15 staff.
BGSU will require all students, faculty, and staff to either be vaccinated or receive an exemption for religious, medical or personal conscience reasons.
Chief Health Officer Ben Batey told the WBGU’s “The Morning Show,” that 800 requests for exemptions have been submitted and 200 have been granted. He noted that the process will help give the university a handle on the vaccination status of the community.
The deadline for submitting is Nov. 1.
