This week’s featured dog waiting for a new home at the Wood County Dog Shelter is Willow. She is between 6 and 7 years old, weighs 69 pounds, and is listed as a Pit Bull Terrier mix.
Willow is not yet spayed and it’s unknown if she’s vaccinated – but she is on the waiting list at the vet and her adoption agreement includes a spay/neuter requirement.
When Willow first arrived at the shelter, she was afraid and reserved. She has since become comfortable and is a laid back, gentle and affectionate dog – with a tail that is always wagging. The dog warden compared Willow to a little hippo as she walks.
Shelter staff believe she is housebroken because she tries to hold it until she’s outside.
Willow has been good with other dogs at the shelter, and information provided to the shelter noted she was good with children and with a cat in her previous home. But anyone adopting her should bring their kids, dogs and cats, if possible, to the shelter for a meet and greet to make sure they all get along before taking Willow home.
The Wood County Dog Shelter is located at 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, phone 419-354-9242.
The adoption fee for all shelter dogs is $89, which includes a $14 Wood County dog license, and $75 vet voucher toward spay/neuter and vaccines if needed. The hours for the shelter are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The shelter is closed on Sundays.
