The Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred today (Tuesday, July 4) at 12:16 a.m. on I-75 at the 187-mile post in Middleton Township.
A Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle, operated by Jamie Pickerel, 47, Toledo, was driving northbound on I-75 when he struck another vehicle in the rear operated by Essence Myerholtz, 22, Whitehouse.
Pickerel was ejected from the motorcycle. He was transported to St. Vincent Medical Center by Middleton Township EMS where he died from his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Perrysburg Township Police Department, and Middleton Township Fire and EMS and Ohio Department of Transportation.
