Steven A. Comes, 70, of Pemberville, OH, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green. He was born May 16, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY, to Edward and Elizabeth (Alwill) Comes. On January 18, 1974 he married Kathleen S. Campbell in Toledo, OH. Steven and Kathleen raised 3 children and have celebrated over 49 years of marriage together.
Steven worked in various fields over the years. He was a setup man for Champion Spark Plug, later he drove truck for Conway and retired from U.A.W., in Detroit, MI. He was a Free and Accepted Mason at the Pemberville Lodge #516. In addition, Steven was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and Shriner. He enjoyed music, tennis, trivia especially watching Jeopardy. Steven was known for his quirky sense of humor. He was a football fan, especially of the University of Michigan and the Pittsburgh Steelers. With many joys in life, it was his family especially his grandchildren, that brought him the most joy.
Steven is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years Kathleen, his children: Jeffrey Comes of Bowling Green, Erin Comes-Randall of Toledo, Jonathan Comes of Toledo and 2 brothers. Grandchildren: Derick Buchman, Jeffrey Comes, Cooper Comes, Isabella Comes and k-9 pals: Nikki and Vegas. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.
Family and friends will be received from 2 – 6:30 p.m.., with a Memorial & Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2023, at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, Ohio. Rev. Peter Johnston will officiate. Steven will be laid to rest in a family committal service in Pemberville Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to: The Shriner Children’s Hospital.
