A woman who said she was headed to the Wood County Jail to turn herself in to serve some time, almost made it there before Bowling Green Police reportedly found her asleep at the wheel at the intersection of East Gypsy Lane Road and Dunbridge Road.
On Friday, around 7:30 p.m., police found a vehicle stopped at the intersection. The driver appeared to be sleeping with her head back.
When an officer approached, the driver, Megan Konoff, 34, of Clay Center, woke up. The car was still in drive and moved forward when the driver removed her foot from the brake. Konoff reportedly had glassy and bloodshot eyes, and stated she was turning herself into Wood County Sheriff`s Office, to serve 30 days.
An officer had Konoff do field sobriety tests, which she reportedly had difficulty performing.
Konoff was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A breath test showed a BAC of zero, but officers noted multiple bruises and needle marks on her arms.
An officer requested a urine sample from Konoff, who reportedly dropped the first two test bottles into the toilet. She was given a third, and reportedly dropped that bottle on the ground, spilling the contents.
Konoff was taken to Wood County Hospital, where a blood sample was drawn. She was then taken to Wood County Jail.
She was arrested for OVI refusal, tampering with evidence, and impeding traffic with slow speed. Her operator’s license was confiscated.
