Bowling Green Police responded to a home on Sunday (May 19) around 6:15 p.m., after receiving multiple phone calls of a man having a knife up to his throat, threatening to harm himself.

The man told police that he was talking to some people unknown to him on Facebook messenger. He said a person online picked up a gun and pointed it at the camera. The man said the people knew where he lived and he was fearful they were going to come to his home and harm him.

Roommates of the man, who resides in a group home, said the unknown person did indeed point a gun at the camera. Police asked the man if he held a knife to his throat while online. He denied doing so. His roommates said it was a pizza cutter that he placed to his neck, which the man acknowledged doing.

Police asked the man if he had any thoughts of self-harm or wanting to harm others. The man said he did not. He did, however, mention wanting to kill his mother, who is already deceased.

Staff at the group home where the man resides assured police they would keep an eye on the man to make sure he is OK.
