Erik Taylor

George “Erik” Taylor, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, military hero and veteran, passed away on June 16, 2024, at the age of 48. Born in Sidney, OH, on February 13, 1976 to Linda and the late George Joseph Taylor, and married Jessica (Smith) Taylor on October 13, 2023.   He attended Bowling Green High School before bravely joining the Marines, where he served for 7 years.

After his time in the Marines, Erik joined Homeland Security: US Coast Guard where he completed three tours in Afghanistan, clocking a total of 16 additional years of service and retiring with a well-deserved bronze star and numerous other awards.

In the realm of civilian life, Erik found enjoyment in life’s simple pleasures. He loved nothing more than riding his motorcycle, a friendly game of cornhole, or testing his precision curling. But above all else, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

Erik is survived by his mother, Linda; wife, Jessica; daughters: Abigail and Alyson; step-sons: Xavier and Easton; sisters: Sheila Long, Dawn (John) Phillips, Laura Taylor, and twin sister Jennifer (Howie) Wheeler; nieces: Brook, Ashleigh, Taylor; nephews: Nolan, Zachary, Brody; and good friends: Andy Long and Matt Patton.

Visitation for Erik will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 12:00 pm until the time of his celebration of life service at 2:00 pm at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, 1460 W. Wooster Street, Bowling Green.

Erik was preceded in death by his father, George Taylor; and nephew Wyatt.
