Allen V. Limes, 74, a lifelong Wood County farmer went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 20, 2017.
Allen was born on October 18, 1942 in Plymouth, Michigan to Howard V. and Virginia (Osterhout) Limes. He married Barbara Jean (Mourdock) on April 7, 1962, she survives. Together they raised three children, Rod (Laurie), Keith (Tracy), Jennifer (Matt) Kregel, all whom reside in rural Bowling Green. Most often he could be heard sharing the many proud moments of his nine grandchildren, Erin (Andy) Stickel, Molly (Tyler) Getz, Megan (Cole) Fitzwater, Emily (Seth) Miller, Jamie (Nic) Holley, Allen Christopher (Kailey), Madison, Ellie and Rylie Kregel. In addition are six great grandchildren, Carter, Claire, Chance, Ainsley, Gia and Reed, all of whom he adored and loved.
He is survived by his five siblings, Rollie (Sharon), Jerry (Cheryl), Sharon (Bill) Newlove, Galen (Nancy), Sandy (Ron) Neiderhouse, brother in law, Larry (Carole) Mourdock, and the late Cheryl (Jerry) Foltz.
Allen attended Haskins School for 10 years and was a graduate of Otsego High School’s class of 1960. While attending school, he was active in sports, and was the first president of the Otsego FFA Chapter.
He was an active member of the Bowling Green Alliance Church where he served as trustee, treasurer, and board member. As a Fair Board Director, representing Middleton Township, he served the Wood County Agricultural Society for 38 years. Additional community involvement included service on the Wood Water, Soil and Conservation District board of directors, and he spent 45 years as the basketball score keeper and was a fixture at most Otsego events.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed deer hunting, playing poker with his buddies, and his greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren in their activities.
Because of his love for family and friends, he fought valiantly for three and half years while trying to recover from a tragic fall on Christmas Eve, 2013. Throughout this time, he treasured conversation, enjoyed laughter, and special times with loved ones.
Visitation will be held on Sunday July 23, 2017 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Bowling Green Alliance Church, 1161 Napoleon Road Bowling Green, Ohio 4302. The funeral service will be held on Monday July 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bowling Green Alliance Church. Pastor Dennis Gugger will officiate. Interment will follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Bowling Green. Additional visitation will begin Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Dunn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the BG Alliance Church or Otsego FFA.
