An evening of song to benefit Welcome BG

Welcome BG will present An Evening with Ebone , a night of music, a silent auction, and appetizers, Thursday, Oct 27, 6- 8 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 315 South College Drive, Bowling Green.

All proceeds benefit Welcome BG and its programs.

The performance will feature soprano Ebone Waweru with pianist Kevin McGill.

Waweru is a teaching artist with the Toledo Opera, has performed as a soloist in John Rutter’s Requiem, Mozart’s Mass in C minor, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, and John Rutter’s Gloria Magnificat Te Deum. She appeared as The Queen of the Night in Mozart’s the “Magic Flute” with the University of Toledo Opera Ensemble. She has also performed a number of roles in local community theater productions including Medda Larkin in the Perrysburg Musical Theatre’s production of “Newsies.” 

McGill taught himself to play the piano at the age of 12, and by the age of 14 was playing the organ for church services in his hometown of Richmond, Indiana.  He is currently adjunct assistant professor of piano and choral accompanist at BGSU, pianist for The Masterworks Chorale, and organist at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Tickets for the event are $40 and $20 for students
