Barbara Ann Buckingham, age 84, of Wayne, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday (October 20, 2023) at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 20, 1939 in rural Hoytville, Ohio to the late Carl & Edna (Brumbaugh) Funk. She married Richard A. Buckingham on December 23, 1960 in the parsonage of the Hoytville Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Richard; daughter, Rochelle Buckingham of Wayne, Ohio; son, Robin (Jennifer) Buckingham of Bloomdale, Ohio; sister, Judy (Perry) Emmitt of Custar, Ohio; granddaughters, Alyssa (Brian) Dorsey of Columbus, Ohio, Katherine (Carlos) Buckingham of Bowling Green, Ohio, Jessica Buckingham of N. Baltimore, Ohio; great-grandson, Thiago Escoboza Buckingham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Edna; sisters, Infant LaDonna, Karen Funk Smallwood.
Barb was a 1957 Graduate of Jackson Township High School in Hoytville. After high school she went to work at Norwalk Truck Lines in McComb as a cashier-clerk. Then she took time off from working to raise her children before returning to work at the Wayne Public Library for the next 20+ years before retiring. She was a homemaker, member of the Hoytville United Methodist Church, later became a member of the Wayne United Methodist Church and was one of the last remaining members of the Henry Township Homemakers in N. Baltimore, Ohio.
Friends will be received from 12:00 noon – 2:00 PM Tuesday (October 24, 2023) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Service will begin Tuesday at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tamara Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery near West Millgrove, Ohio.
