From BOWLING GREEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Foundation announces the first fundraiser for 2023 for the BG Boom Fireworks and Festival with Bates Recycling.

Those selling aluminum cans for recycling at Bates will receive their payment for the recycling and Bates will also contribute five cents of every pound recycled to the fireworks. They just need to do is remember to mention they want to support the BG Fireworks.

A few new partnerships have evolved out of this fundraiser including a place for those who would like to drop off their aluminum cans in town for us to recycle. Work Leads to Independence (WLI) will be accepting cans at their location, 990 S. Main Street and working with Wood County Solid Waste to provide receptacles at your parties or events.

WLI will accept aluminum can donations at their location that will be recycled at Bates and benefit both the BG Boom Fireworks as well as special events for the community WLI serves.

For those who would like to borrow a portable receptacle for their party or event, a few will be on hand to loan out with the completion of a Container Loan Application for Wood County Solid Waste Management District at WLI or WCSWMD. This application is available on the BG Chamber website at bgchamber.net/annual.

This is the third year that Chris and Belinda Bates, owners of Bates Recycling, will be running this fundraiser. The BGCC Foundation appreciates the support from Chris and Belinda not only for the Foundation, but for the many community events and programs that they are involved in.

This year, the fundraiser will run from March 1st to June 30th. This cannot be combined with any of their other special recycling offers.

Information about their hours of operation is available on their website: batesrecycling.com.

Cans can be sold during their regular operating hour at Bates, located at 12729 Jerry City Road, Cygnet.

Plans are underway for the annual fireworks and more information will be released soon about this July 3 event. The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Foundation looks forward to providing this community festival.
