Gay pride flag displayed outside Bowling Green City Administration building on June 28, 2019

A gay pride flag flew outside the Bowling Green City Administration Building Friday (June 28) on the 50th anniversary of the start of the Stonewall Riots in New York City’s Greenwich Village.

The riots sparked by a police raid on a Greenwich Village bar frequented by gay patrons are recognized as the catalyst for the gay rights movement. The month of June is recognized as Gay Pride Month in honor of the Stonewall rebellion.
