The Bowling Green FFA chapter kicked off the 2024-2025 school year off by sending seven members to the Ohio FFA Camp at Camp Muskingum, which is in Carrollton, Ohio, the week of June 29-July 3. The members who attended were Annie Urban, Addie Naus, Casey Naus, Addie Brokaw, Kiersten Hendricks, Gavin Roessner and Aiden Meyer.
This was the first in quite a few years that the Bowling Green FFA chapter has attended Ohio FFA Camp. Members enjoyed their time participating in leadership development activities, recreation activities and meeting FFA members from across the state.
The FFA Officer Team had their officer retreat on June 24 and July 15. During this retreat they did the planning and preparation tasks for the upcoming school year for the FFA Chapter. They also did some fun activities including an escape room. The officer team has eight members: Addie Naus (president), Avery Crawford (vice president), Claire Tussing (secretary), Annie Urban (treasurer), Casey Naus (reporter), Shawn Carney (sentinel), Grace O’Connell (historian), and Gavin Roessner (student advisor).
The Wood County Fair was very eventful for the Bowling Green FFA chapter. The chapter had two members, Addie Naus and Natalee Harris, serve on the junior fair board. Addie Naus and Zack Bechstein represented the chapter in the Fair King and Queen competition. Addie was crowned first runner up Fair Queen. The chapter also won first place in the FFA float judging in the Wood County Fair Parade.
The chapter also had 22 sweepstake winners in the crop and shop sections of fair projects. Landen Naus, Konner Chambers and Cole Brokaw represented BG FFA in the tractor operator’s contest. Konner placed second and Cole placed fifth. Members also had success with their livestock projects. Isabella Belleville won her market barrow class. Addie Naus placed first in her class and best opposite gender with her Senior Netherland Dwarf Doe. Henry Strow received first place in rate of gain for his market steer. Luke Strow placed second place for rate of gain in market steers as well as first place for rate of gain for dairy steers. Cole Brokaw placed fifth with his pen of roosters. And Addie Brokaw earned Grand Champion Fancy Poultry.
The officer team started the year off by assigning the class period that they are in charge of. These are called class teams and are a way for the students to compete with the other class periods during the annual fruit sale and other various competitions and activities.
