BG fire division puts out equipment fire at Phoenix

Bowling Green Fire Division responded to a fire at Phoenix Technologies, 1098 Fairview Ave., Thursday evening. The fire started due to a mechanical problem in a piece of equipment that stands two-stories high and helps to sort trash from plastic, Fire Chief Bill Moorman said this morning.

The building was affected by the fire, but the equipment was damaged greatly, he said. The fire division got the call at 10:36 p.m., and the fire was out by 10:45 p.m., the chief said. Crews remained on the scene for about 90 minutes.

As customary, the fire division leaves one crew member at such fire scenes to monitor the site, Moorman said. In this case, the firefighter remained at Phoenix until 6 this morning, but the fire did not reignite.

“We do not want it to start up again,” Moorman said.

Middleton Township Fire Department and Medic 120 were also on the scene Thursday evening to provide mutual aid.
