BG looking for historic homes and buildings to be part of self-guided walking tours

Historic North Maple Street home on the self-guided "History Lives Here" tour in Bowling Green last year

The Bowling Green Historic Preservation Commission is celebrating National Historic Preservation Month for the second year with a self-guided walking tour of Bowling Green’s historic homes and buildings.

Historic buildings owners are encouraged to sign up their property online at https://buff.ly/41niMW8 by providing basic details about their home or building. Owners who sign up will receive a yard sign indicating “History Lives Here,” which will help bring awareness to local preservation and recognize properties included in the self-guided walking tour throughout May.

Sign up your property online at https://buff.ly/41niMW8 or by calling the Planning Department at 419-354-6218 or emailing planning@bgohio.org by Friday, April 12. Providing a brief history of your historic structure is part of the online sign-up.

The commission has created a handout with resources to help people research a historic property, which is located on the website: https://www.bgohio.org/436/Historic-Preservation-Commission. However, if you need any assistance, contact the Planning Department for assistance.

For those who signed up last year to participate, the Planning Department will contact you. You do not need to sign-up again.

The HPC was established in 2019 to help preserve, promote and educate the community about local history and historic buildings in Bowling Green. To learn more about the HPC, visit www.bgohio.org/436/Historic-Preservation-Commission.
