A Bowling Green man was arrested for aggravated burglary after he reportedly broke into a home and was chased out by the resident.
Dylan Ringler, 27, was taken to Wood County Jail.
Bowling Green Police Division was called Sunday around 4:12 a.m., to the 100 block of Liberty Street, for a burglary in progress. When police arrived, Ringler was lying on the ground, being held down by the resident of the home and a neighbor who heard calls for help.
Ringler reportedly entered the home’s front door, then went into the back bedroom where a man and woman were sleeping. The man reported waking up to see Ringler going through his pockets.
The resident said he jumped out of bed and chased after Ringler, tackling him in the front yard at the bottom of the steps. The two men reportedly exchanged punches, and Ringler allegedly tried again to flee the scene. The two fought more in the alley behind the house, with the resident yelling for someone to call 911.
A neighbor came outside, and reportedly helped hold Ringler on the scene until the police division arrived.
Ringler was treated on the scene by Bowling Green Fire Division for multiple lacerations, and transported to Wood County Hospital for further treatment before being taken to jail.
Ringler, who reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol on this breath, told police that he thought he went into the wrong house. The resident said he believed the front door was unlocked.
