BG man arrested for drug trafficking, improper firearm transportation

A Bowling Green man was arrested Saturday for drug trafficking, improper transportation of a firearm, and unauthorized plates.

Bowling Green Police Division pulled over Shawn Keller McKenzie, 30, of Revere Drive, at 12:46 p.m. near the corner of East Poe Road and North Enterprise Street. A check showed the registration on the Ford F150 did not match with the truck.

While talking with McKenzie, the officer reportedly detected the odor of marijuana. Police reportedly found a bagged substance in McKenzie’s pocket. The substance was sent to BCII for testing.

A search inside the vehicle reportedly found an unloaded 9MM handgun in the center console, and two loaded magazines in the unlocked glove box. Also found was a scale with marijuana residue, and multiple plastic bags of marijuana. The amounts were reportedly enough to charge McKenzie with drug trafficking.

McKenzie was taken to the Wood County jail.
