BG man arrested for reportedly stealing Spectrum tools and backing into police cruiser twice

A Bowling Green man was arrested for receiving stolen property, refusing an OVI test, speeding, improper backing and obstructing official business on Thursday around 6 a.m.

Trevor Dienst, 31, was taken to Wood County Jail after Bowling Green Police reportedly clocked him driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone on North Main Street. Dienst pulled into the Arby’s drive-thru, which was not open, then reportedly twice backed into a police cruiser behind his pickup truck.

Dienst reportedly spoke in a slurred manner, thought it was evening, said he wanted a burger and was unable to perform the field sobriety tests.

Around the same time, police received a report about the theft of items from a work truck at Spectrum, 1135 S. Main St. A Spectrum employee said one of the bin doors on the truck was open and several tools were missing.

Police in the Arby’s lot advised the pickup stopped there had a Spectrum hat and clothing in plain view. Tools in the pickup were later identified as the stolen Spectrum items.

After being placed in the back of a police cruiser, Dienst reportedly slammed his head into the partition between the front and back seats. An ambulance was requested to the scene.

While in the hospital emergency department, Dienst reportedly refused a urine test. Police secured an OVI blood search warrant. While enroute to the hospital for the blood draw, more officers were requested to respond to the hospital due to Dienst’s escalated behavior.

He reportedly was shouting that he would punch anyone in the face who attempted to draw blood and would rip the needle out. Dienst was taken to jail.
