BG man cited for menacing after pulling knife in food truck line

A Bowling Green man was cited for menacing after reportedly showing his knife to someone while waiting in line at a food truck.

Friday, at 11:36 p.m., Bowling Green Police Division responded to a report from a person who reported that a man with long hair, a red flannel shirt and Converse shoes had brandished a knife in a threatening manner. Officers located a man who matched that description, Jordan Poca, 29, of Eighth Street in Bowling Green.

According to the man who reported the incident, he was waiting in a food truck line in the 300 block of East Wooster Street, when he kicked a piece of plasticware that was on the ground, unintentionally sending it toward Poca.

The man said Poca then brandished a folding knife with a 3-inch blade. The man said he put up his hands, backed up, and apologized for kicking the trash toward Poca. He told police he felt fearful for his personal safety.

Police then talked with Poca, who said he had heard the man belittling him as he was waiting to place his order. Poca told police that he has been diagnosed as schizophrenic and is in a constant state of paranoia and felt threatened by the man.

Poca said he was making the man aware that he had a knife, but said he kept the knife in the folded position. He told police he did not threaten to harm anyone.
