BG mayor to host coffee chats in support of new high school

BG Mayor Mike Aspacher

Mayor Mike Aspacher is inviting the community to join him on Tuesday, Sept. 12, to learn more about the bond issue to build a new high school. He will host two coffee chats that day; the first at 10 a.m. at the Wood County Committee On Aging, 140 S. Grove St., and the second at 6 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building at City Park, 520 Conneaut Ave.

Both events are open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

This November, Bowling Green City School District voters will vote on a bond issue to build a new high school on the site of the current high school.

“I’ve been talking about the bond issue to build a new high school nonstop,” Aspacher said. “I just can’t stress enough how important this is not only for our kids, their families, our teachers and school staff, but also for our city’s future.”

A member of the bond campaign committee will attend the coffee chats to give a short presentation and to answer questions.

“I want to do everything I can to help get the word out on this critical issue,” said Aspacher. “The facts here are clear: We are pouring money into a deteriorating facility; it is financially irresponsible; and our kids deserve better.”

Election Day is Nov. 7, and early voting starts Oct. 11. The campaign committee’s website is at bgffs.com.
