Bowling Green city officials made a bittersweet presentation Monday evening to Vassiliki Leontis, wife of former city council member Neocles Leontis, who died in December.
“We are so thrilled that Vassiliki Leontis is with us this evening,” Mayor Mike Aspacher said.
Aspacher and Council President Mark Hollenbaugh presented Vassiliki with a proclamation in honor of her husband, and a couple photographs of Neocles at work as a council member.
Vassiliki Leontis said 2020 was a “very productive and satisfying year for Neocles.”
“I had never seen Neocles so happy and so satisfied,” she said, crediting his involvement in city government during his first year on council.
She thanked city officials and the community for showing such concern and support for her after Neocles’ death.
“I would like to express love and profound gratitude to the entire community, when I was at my lowest level,” Vassiliki said.
